I am Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law and Head of the European Law Department at Charles University, and Vice-Chair of the Scientific Council of the Czech Academy of Sciences. I specialize in EU law, focusing on legal and economic relations, the Economic and Monetary Union, and the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice, as well as Far Eastern legal systems past and present. I have received numerous awards, including the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art and the Hlávka Prize for my book on the legal and cultural dimensions of the Silk Road.
